So I had this great idea. I watch a lot of baseball during the summer and I thought maybe I should do something instead of just passively watch the game. I don't know exactly why I thought to do push-ups. I could barely do 10 without passing out. (Now that's an exaggeration because I'm in pretty good shape for a guy about to turn 50) But 10 was difficult. Very difficult in fact.
So here it is, the end of April, and I'm wondering if this is something I can do until October without my arms falling off. The Twins aren't off to a great start but they do have over 190 hits so far. That's 1900 push-ups!! What was I thinking?
So here was (is) my plan. When I'm watching a Twins game, and they get a hit, I'll drop and do 10 push-ups. Easy. It gets difficult when I can't see the game, and then check the box score and see that they had 10 or 12 hits. Ugh.
I had a small dilemma last week. I hurt my back at work and the Twins got 13 hits that day. That's 130 push-ups. I just couldn't. So I postponed them. The next day they got 10 hits. 100 push-ups. Monday was an off day so here's where I did my 130 push-ups. Tuesday they got rained out. Whew!
But they scheduled a double-header on Thursday. This could be trouble. Luckily for me, the Twins played like shit on Thursday and only got 8 hits in the 2 games. 80 push-ups. I can handle that.
You won't believe it, but I can now do 35 push-ups without stopping. That's a long way from barely 10.
I'm going to have to buy bigger shirts soon. I'll keep you posted.
