West Coast Bound

So the Twins are off to the West Coast for their first series against the Seattle Mariners.  The Twins are 12-26 on the season, 12.5 games out of first.  The Mariners are 16-23, and only 5 games back. 

Here's their chance.  The Twins are on an 8 game losing streak and the Mariners have lost 6 straight.
The odd thing is that win or lose, I still do push-ups. Lots of push-ups.  Just because they're not winning, doesn't mean they're not hitting.  I've done 2960 so far this season.  That's a lot of damn push-ups.  (Reminds me of a joke.  If you want to hear it, let me know)

I like to do them in sets of 25-30.  Remember, when I first started I could do only 10 at a time.  The first set is always the most difficult.  Then after I'm warmed up, it gets a lot easier.  As long as I leave 5-10 minutes between sets.

But playing on the West Coast means they won't get started until late.   And I won't be staying up to watch them.   Not even if they're winning.   Well maybe if they were winning.   A true fair weather fan.  And an all weather Push-up Guy.

13 hits and a loss! Really? Again?

Call me the eternal optimist!  They're going to turn this train around.  Trains don't turn real fast.  But when they do turn, they can really build up steam and, pardon the expression, haul ass.

The Twins will win this season.  Of that I have no doubt.  But I'm becoming impatient.  I'm an impatient optimist!  This will be the most exciting season ever.  It's May 14th and they're 12 games out.  130 push-ups today.  They're easier to do when the Twins win.  I think.  It's been a while.

Not winning, but I still do push-ups

If someone had bet me $100.00 at the beginning of the season that the Twins would have the worst record in baseball on May 13th, I would have jumped all over that.  The Twins have pretty much the same team as last year.  They won their division last year. 

So what's the problem?  Right now, they are a team of underachievers.  Here's what I know.  Kansas City is not going to finish above the Twins this year. Detroit is a .500 team at best. Cleveland will not stay as hot as they've been.   The Twins will get healthy this year.  The Twins are not going to finish the season hitting .231.  The Twins will get hot this year, and when they do, they will be playing a team that is cold.

Mark my words.  It is May 13th.  Friday the 13th in fact.  The Twins will finish above .500.  Scarier things have happened.  In the meanwhile, I'll continue doing my push-ups every time the Twins get a hit.

Bring it on Twins!!  I'm warmed up now.  100 push-ups is nothing.

No Hitter- And I didn't even see it

I like a good pitcher's duel.  Jill (my wife) would rather see a slugfest.  I apprecicate good defense.  She likes the extra base hits and home runs.  Perhaps this is why she doesn't like watching baseball with me.

Anyway, I missed a great game last night.  A no hitter to boot.  My kind of game.  Twins got 6 hits.  That equals 60 push ups.

I did catch the re-cap.   I tuned in to what I thought might be the seventh or eigth inning.  The game was already over.  Some good defensive plays.  Maybe this is what the Twins need to turn things around.

2030 Push-ups with 5 months to go

April is done.  Thankfully for the Twins.  One of their worst starts in recent history.  Have I lost faith?
Not yet.  The season is still young. They did however have 203 hits for the month of April.  That's 2030 push-ups for me.  And I did them all.  It wasn't fun, it wasn't easy.  But I did them.  And I can say that it's much easier now then when I started.

Driving to Moorhead today for Mamie's graduation.  She just e-mailed to say it's snowing up there.  Really?  It's may 1st.  It's going to be a long day.  3 hour drive each way.  And when I get home, I know there will be some push-ups waiting for me.  Could it be snowing in Kansas City?  I hope so.
